One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville

Scholarship Terms, Conditions, and Deadlines for Cedarville Awards

These terms and conditions apply to all programs of study regardless of program completion length.

Freshmen/transfer academic merit-based scholarships

Freshmen/Transfer academic merit-based scholarships are “locked in” once a student begins their undergraduate study at Cedarville. These scholarships are awarded based on the eligibility criteria and deadlines for each.

Once enrolled, a student will never be moved up to a higher scholarship level nor moved down to a lower scholarship level for any reason.

Full-time Enrollment Requirement

A student must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 undergraduate, degree-seeking credit hours per semester at Cedarville) to receive institutional financial aid. Institutional aid is not prorated for part-time students.

Standard Awarding is For Fall/Spring

Scholarships are awarded fall and spring terms only (this includes programs with a three-year completion option).

Students Who Complete Early or Attend Only One Term

Cedarville Awards are made based on an annual amount, which is then split evenly between fall and spring terms.

  • Students who complete their degree requirements early will receive the single term portion of their award only (aid is neither frontloaded nor backloaded).
  • Additionally, donor-funded scholarships are not awarded for August or December completers.

Outside Scholarships

Outside scholarships that total $1500 or more will be automatically split between the fall and spring semesters unless otherwise specified by the scholarship provider. If an amount is less than the $1500 amount and the provider notes it is for a single semester only, the scholarship will be added as noted by the provider.

Renewable Scholarships

Renewable scholarships – assuming renewal criteria are met – are available for up to eight (8) semesters of attendance in an undergraduate program, or through the completion of the first professional year of the PharmD program (whichever comes first).

  • Students enrolled in a Master’s level program are ineligible to receive undergraduate institutional aid.
  • Students enrolled in the PharmD program are ineligible to receive undergraduate student aid in their P2 year, even if they accelerated the undergraduate portion of their program and have not received eight semesters of undergraduate aid.

Reduction of Scholarships

Cedarville University seeks to carefully steward institutional resources and ensure that scholarship funds are maximized for all students. Therefore, if a student receives total scholarships and grants (institutional or outside) that exceed his/her direct University charges, Cedarville will reduce that student’s institutional gift-based aid so that the total gift-based aid does not exceed the student’s University charges.

Donor-Funded Scholarships

Some institutional aid may be partially funded by generous donors to the University. Students will be notified if a donor contributed to any portion of their awards, and an appropriate expression of appreciation will be required.

Donor-funded scholarships are available beyond the eighth term and are not automatically renewed from year to year.
