Theology Is for Everyone Video Series

Cedarville University's signAt Cedarville University, we believe that the study of theology is for everyone. It's easy to think that theology is only important for pastors and Bible professors, but that's not true! Theology is for everyone who walks in a church and thinks thoughts and speaks words about God. And, we should want to be good theological thinkers, regardless of our role in the church. Theology is essential for every believer, because to engage in theology is to engage in Christian living.

Dr. Jeremy Kimble, Associate Professor of Theology at Cedarville University, has recorded an eight-part video series on important theological doctrine that every believer should understand. Each video is short but full of rich truth. Watch them for personal growth, group study, or however God leads you. Be blessed as you dig deeper into God’s Word.

Women's History Month at Cedarville University

Display of books about female missionaries.

by Mindy May, PhD

“We are women, and my plea is let me be a woman, holy through and through, asking for nothing but what God wants to give me, receiving with both hands and with all my heart whatever that is.”

— Elisabeth Elliot, Let Me Be a Woman

As we enter into the month of March, you will see your calendars marked as “Women’s History Month.” In honor of many praiseworthy women in the heritage of the Christian faith, I wanted to call your attention to the display on Women Missionaries: Warriors of the Faith in the Centennial Library. In a partnership between the Kingdom Diversity Advisory Council of Cedarville University and the Centennial Library, we have displayed various biographical works on significant female missionaries across the globe. With the aid of our wonderful library staff, student intern Morgan Rupp compiled a vast array of celebratory works for students, faculty, and staff. My personal favorites include works on Elisabeth Elliot, Amy Carmichael, and Corrie Ten Boom, as their lives and ministries have had a profound impact on me.

Biblical Conflict Resolution: 6 Questions to Ask

Mindy May speaking on stage.

by Mindy May, PhD

During my years at Cedarville University, I have been asked to speak on conflict resolution in various classes and student staff training events. Any time I speak on conflict resolution with our students, I typically ask the audience, “How many of you enjoy conflict?” Stilled silence. Then I ask, “How many of you would say you avoid conflict at all costs?” The majority of in the room raise their hands. With the ever-increasing use of digital platforms and communication veins, the art of healthy conflict resolution has taken a significant hit. We live in a time where communication is dwindled to a few short texts to communicate a breadth of experiences and emotions. Through this type of communication, the meta-message of communication is often lost; eye contact, tone of voice, intent, and personal care are all absent from the conversation. Whether it is training our Resident Assistants or equipping women’s ministry leaders, a few simple principles help offer some foundational tools to live out this aspect of biblical community.
