The media ranking of Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) programs lists Cedarville鈥檚 M.S.N. program fifth in Ohio, and the highest-ranked private university in the state. Only Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati, Ohio University and Kent State University are ranked higher than Cedarville.

Cedarville University鈥檚 school of nursing program has a long-standing reputation for equipping highly skilled, well-prepared nurses. Cedarville began offering a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1982, and 26 years later began offering the M.S.N.

Today, Cedarville鈥檚 Master of Science in Nursing program continues to serve patients well.

鈥淲e serve the health care profession by keeping up with the landscape. We see what鈥檚 needed and adjust our programs to meet community and population health care needs,鈥 said Angie Mickle, D.N.P., dean of the school of nursing. 鈥淏ut I truly believe that we continue to be successful because everything we do is for the glory of God.鈥

According to health care professionals, Cedarville鈥檚 nursing graduates are highly desired by hospitals and health care networks. The school of nursing鈥檚 emphasis of hands-on learning allows nursing students to be ready for the health care field, at both the B.S.N. and M.S.N. level.

When Cedarville began its M.S.N. program, the health care industry was changing to require more advanced practice nurses.

Nationally, nurse practitioners are becoming the primary providers of health care, according to Mickle, as there is a growing physician shortage. Cedarville started its M.S.N. to meet industry needs while maintaining rigorous academics and a biblical worldview.

Cedarville offers five areas of focus for the M.S.N., including adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner, pediatric nurse practitioner, nurse educator, and nursing leadership, plus a M.S.N. + M.B.A. dual degree.

U.S. News Ranking Methodology

The U.S. News and World Report ranking looks at the program at a micro-level, while also considering the institution as a whole. U.S. News and World Report bases rankings on the institutions programs, retention rates, undergraduate academic reputation, class size, alumni giving rates and more.

Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 5,082 undergraduate, graduate, and dual enrolled high school students in more than 175 areas of study. Founded in 1887, Cedarville is one of the largest private universities in Ohio, recognized nationally for its authentic Christian community, rigorous academic programs, high graduation and retention rates, accredited professional and health science offerings, and the No. 4 national ranking by the Wall Street Journal for student engagement.
