Business and faith are often seen as two separate entities that rarely intersect. But on September 13, Cedarville University's Robert W. Plaster School of Business hosted a watch party for the annual Faith Driven Entrepreneurs national event, which champions how faith and business not only coexist but how business is driven out of faith. 
Speakers include David Platt, senior pastor of the McLean Bible Church in Washington, D.C., and Patrick Lencioni, author of the New York Times bestselling book, 鈥淭he Five Disfunctions of a Team.鈥
鈥淭hey are giving a good example of how to be a truly successful entrepreneur and an on-fire Christian,鈥 said Dr. Kary Oberbrunner, Berry Chair and assistant professor of entrepreneurship.
This year鈥檚 conference will center around the theme of giving up control and intentionally walking as stewards as opposed to owners.
鈥淚t helps us realize that we鈥檙e all salt and light and we can all have a mission field where we go,鈥 said Oberbrunner.
The conference is also conveniently timed to allow students to put what they鈥檝e learned into practice through on-campus events like The Pitch, the Cedarville Entrepreneurship Org and the Hackathon event. The Faith Driven Entrepreneurship event is designed to show students how to live out their faith in their field and encourage them to start being entrepreneurs while they鈥檙e still in college.
鈥淎lthough we鈥檙e watching Faith Driven Entrepreneurs on Wednesday, we can be faith-driven entrepreneurs on Friday.鈥 Said Oberbrunner. 鈥淲e don鈥檛 have to wait until we鈥檙e graduates to get in the game.
