Cedarville University鈥檚 worship program provides practical experience for students to enter their chosen field after graduation. The program equips students to serve while giving them the opportunities to work with ministries across the country.
Hayden Bradley, a senior worship major from Forrest, Ohio, spent the past summer interning at Harvest Bible Chapel (HBC) in Chicago, home of Vertical Church Band. Upon completing his internship, Bradley was offered a full-time ministry position with Harvest Bible Chapel.
After graduating in December, Bradley will serve as the head worship leader at HBC鈥檚 Cathedral Campus and begin touring with Vertical Church Band in March.
鈥淐edarville has helped me understand what worship really is,鈥 said Bradley. 鈥淭he focus in the classroom has always been why we worship, not how we worship.鈥
Three other Cedarville students 鈥 Chuck DeBrosse, Ansen Lancaster and Jared Wolfe 鈥 also interned at HBC this past summer.
Michael Pettus, a 2015 graduate from Cedarville鈥檚 worship program, has served at Christ Fellowship Miami as the main campus worship pastor for over a year. He also had the opportunity to lead a worship set with Chris Tomlin during a recent tour.
鈥淥ne of the features of Cedarville鈥檚 worship program is that it鈥檚 practically oriented and hands-on,鈥 said Roger O鈥橬eel, Ph.D., associate professor of worship. 鈥淲e want to prepare students so they鈥檙e ready to minister to a local church if that鈥檚 where God is calling them. We want our students not to just be good musicians but to have the heart of a worshiper.鈥
Cedarville鈥檚 worship program prepares students to serve through practical ministry experience by serving with university touring teams such as Heartsong, Resonance, Rekindle and chapel bands. Each worship student is required to complete field experience their sophomore and junior year, as well as an internship their senior year. Often, these internships lead to full-time positions.
Worship students have opportunities to work with many nationally known ministries such as HBC, Elevation Worship and Christ Fellowship 鈥 all of whom have hired Cedarville graduates into full-time positions.
Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,760 undergraduate, graduate and online students in more than 100 areas of study. Founded in 1887, Cedarville is recognized nationally for its authentic Christian community, rigorous academic programs, strong graduation and retention rates, accredited professional and health science offerings and leading student satisfaction ratings.
