You Can Change by Tim ChesterThe main idea of You Can Change is that real growth doesn鈥檛 come from trying harder, but from trusting deeper. Behind every sin is a lie we believe about God; that He isn鈥檛 great, glorious, good, or gracious enough, and the key to change is learning to see those lies for what they are. For me, it reads less like a 鈥渟elf-help鈥 book and more like an invitation to stop striving and start resting in who God already is. Change isn鈥檛 about reaching a finish line where we finally 鈥渁rrive,鈥 it鈥檚 about letting the gospel reshape our everyday struggles in ways that actually last.

1 Peter1 Peter is written by the Apostle Peter to the scattered Christians across Asia Minor. He encourages them to persevere through the trials and suffering they may face because of the hope that is found in the future glory that lies ahead. Believers should seek holiness and give themselves fully to God. They should remain faithful not only because of what Christ has done, but also because of what lies ahead through the salvation and hope that He has promised to us.

Colossians鈥淚n this book, Dane Ortlund points believers to Christ, making the case that sanctification does not happen by doing more or becoming better, but by going deeper into the wondrous gospel truths that washed over them when they were first united to him.鈥

1 Peter鈥淭he book of 1 Peter was written to a group of people who were living as elect exiles. Throughout the whole book, we will learn what it means to live as exiles in this world that is not our home. Peter begins his book by reminding us of our salvation. He then calls us to be holy as Christ is holy. Throughout the book, we see themes of suffering, being subject to authority, and ultimately living godly lives. The entire book of 1 Peter is about our pursuit of holiness. Christ died in order that we might be born again to a living hope, so now, with our inheritance secure in heaven, we are called to pursue holy lives. In 1 Peter, we get a glimpse of what the pursuit of holiness in our lives should look like.鈥

Colossians鈥淐olossians is an epistle written by Paul to guide his readers鈥 eyes to the supremacy of Christ. Paul outlines for us how Christ is preeminent in salvation and sanctification; therefore, Christians ought to gaze upon the glories of Christ all their days. This epistle is infused with essential doctrines that are tied to a Christ-honoring way of living. A study through Colossians provides a rich opportunity to know Christ and walk closer to Him.

Impossible Christianity by Kevin DeYoung and 1 Thessalonians鈥淲e live in an anxious age. There are so many options for us - where to go to school, what to study, what activities to be involved in, what job to get, where to live鈥 the list goes on. In this busy age, trying to figure out what God wants us to do can produce great anxiety in us. Pleasing God can feel like a burden, or even impossible to figure out. Even as we鈥檙e walking faithfully, we fear we鈥檒l make the wrong decisions, take the wrong turn in the maze, and get God鈥檚 鈥渟econd best鈥 for our lives. This study will dive into what God says in his Word about his will for us. Following him faithfully is hard, it requires trust, but it is not impossible. Instead of seeing our lives as a massive, intricate maze that鈥檚 nearly impossible to solve, what would it look like to leave behind fear and anxiety and actually trust him?鈥

Romans鈥淩omans is Paul鈥檚 most thorough explanation of the gospel, laying out God鈥檚 plan of salvation for all people. In this letter, Paul shows how all have sinned and are in need of grace, how we are justified by faith, and how the Spirit empowers us to live transformed lives. He also unpacks God鈥檚 purposes for Israel and the nations and calls believers to live out the gospel in unity and love. Studying Romans helps us grasp the depth of God鈥檚 mercy and the practical outworking of the gospel in everyday life.鈥
