Today’s chapel was led by Pastor Chris Brooks from Woodside Bible Church. He focused on Isaiah 6, exploring the main idea of seeing the glory of God. The sermon commenced with a question to get the students thinking about what’s to come. Brooks asked, “Have you ever seen something for the first time and known after you saw it that you will never be the same again?”  Well, this is exactly what happened to Isaiah. He saw the glory of God and was forever changed. 

Isaiah got a glorious vision of God that changed and marked him forever. After King Uzziah dies, this is when God reveals Himself and gives a glimpse of His glory. Israel was in a state of fear and confusion after the passing of Uzziah. This led to a comforting statement given by Brooks.  

He encouraged the chapel by saying, “The political leaders will come and go, but God’s glory will reign forever.”  

To see the glory of God, we need to refocus our thinking. We need to stop asking “What do I want?” and start asking “What does HE want?” God already knows how your life is going to play out. He isn’t sitting in heaven, anxious about what to do with your life. He already knows and is watching it play out. You must remember that He is not just the God of the mountaintops, but the God of the valleys as well. We are to seek and praise Him.  

So now that we know this, what should our response be? Isaiah’s response to seeing the glory of God was, “Here I am. Send me.” We see this in Isaiah 6:8, where he states, “And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! Send me.’’’ 

God doesn’t look at your toolbelt or resume. Although those things are helpful, God wants to use anyone who has a willing heart. We serve a powerful and almighty God who works through us.  

Brooks closed the message with an uplifting note, stating, “God brought you here so you could get a glimpse of His glory so you could be sent to the nations.”
