The Cyber Center retains expert personnel from highly qualified faculty to outstanding student leaders. Cyber faculty and those with related cybersecurity expertise study as Faculty Fellows during their academic tenure at Cedarville. Student Fellows are hand selected cyber student leaders employed to assist the Director in the day-to-day operations of the Center. They serve in their fellowships at the Director's discretion, typically fulfilling their roles to graduation.

Seth Hamman, PhD – Director
Contact Dr. HammanDr. Seth Hamman is the inaugural Director of the Center for the Advancement of Cybrsecurity. He serves as Professor of Cyber Operations and Computer Science and as the Point of Contact for Cedarville’s Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations and Cyber Defense designations. Dr. Hamman joined the faculty of Cedarville University’s School of Engineering and Computer Science in 2012, bringing real-world experience to the classroom from having worked in the tech industry, both as an employee of a startup dotcom and as a consultant. As a researcher, he is interested in helping shape the young and growing discipline of cybersecurity education and integrating the Christian faith and computer science. Dr. Hamman holds a BA in religion from Duke University, an MS in computer science from Yale University, and a PhD in computer science with an emphasis in cybersecurity from The Air Force Institute of Technology.

Nick Parry, MS – Deputy Director
Contact Prof. ParryProf. Nick Parry is the Deputy Director of the Center for the Advancement of Cybersecurity and Assistant Professor of Cyber Operations and Computer Science. He joined the faculty at Cedarville University in 2022 after 14 years as a software engineer in the cybersecurity industry. He has been employed at Northrop Grumman Xetron, Tenable Network Security, and CrowdStrike. His focus has been on secure cyber systems for the DoD and other government agencies, as well as commercial tools for vulnerability management and endpoint protection.

Keith Shomper, PhD – Faculty Fellow
Contact Dr. ShomperDr. Keith Shomper earned his PhD in Computer Science from The Ohio State University in 1993. In 2003, after his retirement from the United States Air Force and teaching assignments at the Air Force Institute of Technology and the Air Force Academy, he joined the Cedarville University faculty in the School of Engineering and Computer Science. He continues to serve that School as a Senior Professor of Computer Science and as a Fellow in the Center for the Advancement of Cybersecurity. In these roles, Dr. Shomper assists in the curricular design of Cedarville’s Computer Science (CS) and Cyber Operations (CY) majors. Dr. Shomper also teaches a mix of courses for both the CS and CY majors in C++, algorithms, low-level programming, Linux system administration, and software engineering.

Patrick Dudenhofer, MS – Faculty Fellow
Contact Prof. DudenhoferProf. Patrick Dudenhofer joined the faculty at Cedarville University in 2014 after spending a decade at the Air Force Research Laboratory researching human-computer interfaces for effective supervision of autonomous systems. When not instructing computer science and cyber operation students at Cedarville, Patrick works on his PhD dissertation focused on software reverse engineering automation and spends his summers as a cybersecurity defense contractor in the Miami Valley. His academic interests and research include software reverse engineering, human-computer interaction, cognitive modeling, and cybersecurity.

Kaicheng Ye, BS - Research Assistant
Contact Kaicheng YeKaicheng joined Cedarville University’s School of Engineering and Computer Science staff in 2025. He serves as a research assistant for the Center for the Advancement of Cybersecurity. His main role is to manage the cyber range used for classes and competition practice.

Stephen Reid – Chief Student Fellow
Stephen Reid is a Cyber Operations and Computer Science double major from Columbus, Ohio. He has participated in the National Cyber League individual and team games, Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, NCAE Cyber Games, and the NCAE-C VIVID competition, among others. As a cadet major in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, he has gained extensive leadership experience that he hopes to contribute to the Cyber Program. He is a distinguished graduate of Cadet Officer School, CAP’s top leadership school, and has participated in several years of CyberPatriot, including a 1st place Ohio Platinum Tier placement in 2020 in the All Services Division. As Chief Student Fellow, Stephen desires to foster a collaborative environment in which students can learn through experience and become confident in their abilities. In his spare time, he enjoys reading personal development books, writing, playing pickleball, and spending time with friends and family.

Clara Reeder– Student Fellow for Public Affairs
Clara Reeder is a Cyber Operations and Computer Science double major from Honolulu, Hawaii. She has participated in numerous cyber competitions, such as the National Cyber League, HiveStorm, and NCAE Cyber Games. In her role as Student Fellow for Public Affairs, she creates digital media, produces videos, and organizes events to raise awareness of cybersecurity and provide Cedarville students with opportunities to network with cyber experts. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing board and card games, and spending time with friends and family.

David Lamoreaux – Student Fellow for Leadership Development
David Lamoreaux is a Cyber Operations and Computer Science double major from Greenwich, Ohio. He has participated in the National Cyber League individual and team games, the first OCRI CTF, and the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC). David is currently in the Air National Guard in Mansfield, Ohio, where the 179th Cyber Wing is becoming the first Guard wing in the nation to deliver the capabilities its mission set offers. As Student Fellow for Leadership Development, David seeks to serve his fellow classmates by cultivating both their technical prowess and leadership potential and fostering meaningful relationships within the cyber program to equip them as well-rounded, Christ-honoring cyber leaders. In his spare time, he enjoys reading Christian apologetics books, cooking good food, and watching movies with friends and family.

Matthew Dudley – Student Fellow for Cyber Maneuvers
Matthew Dudley is a Cyber Operations and Computer Science double major from Plainfield, Illinois. He has participated in a variety of cyber competitions, including Hivestorm, NCAE Cyber Games, the National Cyber League team and individual competitions, OCRI, and the NCAE-C VIVID competition. As the Student Fellow for Cyber Maneuvers, he teaches both Basic Cyber Maneuvers and Advanced Cyber Maneuvers, providing students with practical training to strengthen their technical proficiency. Matthew has also gained significant leadership experience through earning the rank of Eagle Scout, an achievement that continues to shape his character and approach to mentorship. He is committed to fostering an environment where students can develop confidence in their cyber skills while pursuing excellence with integrity. In his free time, he enjoys reading as well as playing volleyball, pickleball, and basketball with friends.

Christopher Reed – Student Fellow for Cyber Exercises
Christopher Reed is a Cyber Operations and Computer Science double major from Central Pennsylvania. He has led the Cyber Center’s first team to reach Nationals in the NCAE Cyber Games and has also competed in VIVID, NCL, Hivestorm, and the NSA Codebreaker Challenge. Additionally, he is a member of the Cyber Leadership Development Program (CLDP). As the Student Fellow for Cyber Exercises, Christopher seeks to provide structure and resources that enable students to assume leadership roles, collaborate effectively, and excel in competition. Beyond cyber, he is actively involved in the Honors Program and Cedarville’s Theatre Program, where he finds creative and intellectual insight as well as community alongside his technical pursuits.
