Every child imagines who they will become when they grow up, but few fulfill those childhood dreams. Katelin (Horton) Johnson, a 2025 business management  graduate from Cedarville University, is an exception.  

鈥淚 grew up going to Disney World and dreamed of one day working there,鈥� said Johnson. 鈥淵et when it came time to decide my career path, I wasn鈥檛 sure what to do. After encouragement from my parents, I applied to Disney. I thought it was crazy 鈥� until they accepted my application and hired me. It was a dream come true.鈥�  

Johnson chose Cedarville University because she admired Cedarville鈥檚 mission and core values. During her four years 鈥� or 1000 Days 鈥� at Cedarville, Johnson embraced the values of 鈥淟ove for God. Love for Others. Integrity in Conduct. Excellence in Effort.鈥� Now, she is preparing to carry those principles into her new role as a retail planner for consumer products at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  

Johnson is charged with maintaining Disney鈥檚 high-quality product production as she works with merchandise for Hollywood Studios, a Disney World theme park. She will be analyzing business reports and working with co-workers to create strong teams that produce compelling products.   

Johnson brings with her the encouragement of faculty mentors Alina Leo, assistant professor of management, and Stacey Stratton, associate professor of theatre, who supported her throughout her time at Cedarville.  

Johnson plans to apply strategic planning principles she learned in business classes and theatre performances to express God鈥檚 love through storytelling. She understands that working as a Christian in a secular environment may be challenging, but she鈥檚 confident that this is where God has called her.  

鈥淕od鈥檚 greatest commandment is to love others,鈥� said Johnson. 鈥淚 won鈥檛 support values I don鈥檛 believe in, but I want to show others that God and I care about them.鈥�  

Johnson learned how important it is to love others like Christ through her campus experience at Cedarville.    

鈥淎ll your dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them,鈥� said Walt Disney 鈥� something Johnson has found to be true. As a child, she gazed up at Cinderella's castle, watching the fireworks burst overhead and imagining what it would be like to work for Disney. Now, years later, Johnson is stepping into her dream.
