Admission Requirements

  • Admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program requires meeting the University's general admission criteria, application requirements, and the following:
    • Evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
    • Meet all program prerequisites. Applicants not meeting program prerequisites or admission standards may be considered for conditional admission to the program. See info below under “Business Prerequisite Courses.â€
    • Official transcripts confirming a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or otherwise approved institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Conditional acceptance may be offered in certain circumstances where the overall GPA is at least 2.0. Specific conditions will be decided by the MBA Admissions Committee.
      • Completion of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) may be required for those with a grade point average below 2.75. Some exceptions are made on an individual basis. The GRE is an acceptable alternative.
    • Computer proficiency and ability to take courses in an online environment.
    • One professional or academic reference (faculty member or supervisor) and one Christian character reference (pastoral or mentor). Family members and personal friends are not eligible to serve as references.

Business Prerequisite Courses

What prerequisite courses are required for incoming MBA students?

  • Students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher have no prerequisite course requirements. Refresher courses may be taken through the University at no charge. Ask your MBA advisor for information.
  • For students who do not meet the prerequisite waiver GPA requirement, they may start the MBA program at Cedarville University without prerequisites; however, they will need to complete coursework in Economics, Statistics, Financial Accounting (Accounting 1), and Managerial Accounting (Accounting 2) before taking certain classes in the MBA program that require the prerequisite.
  • Alternative, non-traditional learning options are acceptable for all prerequisites.

How do I satisfy the prerequisites, if I need them?

You have two options to satisfy the prerequisite requirements:

  • Complete an online, noncredit course, work-at-your-own-pace course through Courses are just $79 each.
  • Complete undergraduate coursework in Economics, Statistics, Managerial Accounting, and Financial Accounting. Check with your program advisor to ensure selected coursework will transfer to satisfy the prerequisite.

What can I expect from the Continuing Education course? 

  • Self-paced courses.
  • Pretest – tests your current knowledge of the content.
  • Complete all modules with content mastery quizzes. To move forward to the next module, you will need to pass or show mastery of the content through an open book quiz. If you do not pass the module quiz, you will be able to retake the module and quiz until you do.
  • The final test is all that matters. You have three attempts to get a 75% or better. The exam is not timed and is open book.
