John Chilcote, MDiv

Prof. John Chilcote has served as Associate Professor of Worship at Cedarville University since 2020. Previously, he was Associate Professor of Worship Arts at Nebraska Christian College. Alongside his career in academia, Prof. Chilcote has served as worship pastor in full- and part-time capacities at multiple churches around the Midwest. Comfortable on guitar or behind a piano, he has led worship for more than 25 years. He currently also serves as the Worship Director at Heritage Fellowship Church in Springfield, Ohio.

As a mentor and teacher, Prof. Chilcote enjoys training worship students from all over the country. He teaches contemporary music theory, worship leadership skills, guitar, and songwriting. He oversees the Songwriting Minor and Cedarville Worship Publishing, directs the worship department bands Resonance and Rekindle.  
John is an advocate for modern church choirs, having conducted worship choirs to perform with Paul Baloche, Sandy Patty, and others.

Prof. Chilcote lives in Springfield with his wife and three children. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Christian Worship from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
