Why Study Allied Health at Cedarville?

If you feel called to serve Christ and others in a health-related career, Cedarville’s distinctly Christian allied health major will prepare you for this important work. This program is designed to equip you for graduate school programs including chiropractic, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and physician assistant, as well as for employment in the health field. You'll customize your degree by choosing a concentration, and you will study under professors with high academic credentials and years of clinical experience.

As an allied health professional, you will provide a range of diagnostic, technical, therapeutic, and direct patient care as part of a healthcare team. With biblical integration in every course at Cedarville, you'll learn how to serve your patients with the mind and compassion of Christ.     Opportunities to Learn Outside the Classroom

    Allied Health Student Organization (AHSO) — You'll have the opportunity to join the Allied Health Student Organization (AHSO). AHSO is an academically-focused, service-minded organization that exists to support the students and faculty of Cedarville's allied health program. Seeking to enhance the academic, social, and spiritual lives of allied health students, the organization is involved in:

    • Enhancing allied health majors’ understanding of the professions they aspire to enter.
    • Promoting scholarship, fellowship, and spiritual growth among students majoring in Allied Health.
    • Encouraging and preparing students to maintain their Christian walk as they enter rigorous programs of study in the healthcare fields.
    • Facilitating opportunities for communication of allied health students with practicing clinicians in allied health professions.

    Global Outreach — You're encouraged to join a short-term medical missions trip with Cedarville University's Global Outreach during spring or summer breaks.

    Professional Conferences â€” Take advantage of the chance to connect at a professional level with state, national, and missions organizations by attending various conferences.

    Service Organizations — Join other allied health students in serving with local ministry-minded organizations such as Caring Partners International, Hope Rising Pregnancy Center, local soup kitchens, and One Bistro restaurant to be the hands and feet of Christ in the community.

    Program Concentrations

    Each of these concentrations will direct your learning so that you will be prepared with the prerequisite courses and foundational knowledge needed for your chosen field.

    Program Curriculum

    Building on your core liberal arts and Bible minor courses, you will take a range of courses in the following disciplines: anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, health studies, medical terminology, nutrition, psychology, professional development, ethics, and research methods. During your senior year, you'll also complete a senior year capstone presentation. Ï㽶ֱ²¥allied health courses will introduce you to the allied health professions and prepare you to apply to graduate or other professional programs or to enter the workforce directly.
